Twitter

Twitter brings a new dimesnion to social networking by letting you see what your friends are doing at any given time. Twitter can be very useful for open source projects if everyone in the community uses it because then you can see who is working on what part of the project and make sure everything is getting done.

  1. I like your idea about using it when you have to work on a team project. I have been a manager for many years and would like it in the work setting but I would think that people would think I was micromanaging them. I type so slow it would take a long time before I would be a time saving tool for me.

  2. I agree, that’s exactly how would I use twitter or similar applications. Like I mentioned in my post, it’s perfect for real time information/news and could be used for emergencies or updates in specific fields/projects, etc. I won’t use it to post my daily activities though. Just came out to my mind what happened to Journalism student (James Karl Buck) that got arrested in the Egypt for photographing a demonstration. He used his cell phone to message “arrested” to his followers who contacted the US Embassy to help him out. I think that’s a good example of how useful could this tool be.

  3. That’s definitely one way of using it that I haven’t ever thought of before. I’m really glad you made this post, it’s open more possibilities to Twitter now that I can think outside the box. I mean, if you can use it for group projects… you can use it for meeting points, for transactions, for just about anything really.
